Press Release Regarding The Terrorist Attack On The Un World Food Program’s Office In Islamabad , 05.10.2009
We have learned with deep sorrow that a heinous terrorist attack that took place today (October 5, 2009) in Islamabad, the capital of brotherly Pakistan, and targeted the United Nations World Food Program’s Office has claimed 5 lives and injured many others according to initial reports. Turkey extends its condolences to the families of the victims and wishes speedy recovery to the wounded ones.
Turkey strongly condemns this abhorrent terrorist attack which targeted the peace and stability of the brotherly Pakistani people and a UN institution that has a mission of extending humanitarian assistance across the world, representing the collective voice and conscience of the international community.
Turkey has always emphasized the need for international solidarity and cooperation at the global level in order to overcome terrorism, which is a crime against humanity.
Turkey wholeheartedly shares the grief of the friendly and brotherly Pakistani people caused by this attack. Turkey reiterates once again its support to brotherly Pakistan in its struggle against terrorism and extremism and will resolutely continue her solidarity with the Government and people of Pakistan.
